(This is the microphone the camera comes with) There a lot of different options and they all range from different prices. So what do you use? But, if you're ready to make your life easier and get great audio I would recommend the shotgun mic or the wireless microphone. The shotgun mic is better used for outdoor conditions but beware it will pick up a lot more background noise. A shotgun microphone is great for nature shots and close up interviews. But, the shotgun mic is not good in small rooms where the audio can echo and where the person talking is farther away from the camera. The wireless microphone is great for virtually everything where you want to pick up the dialogue or audio from people speaking. With the System 10 2.4 GHZ wireless microphone from Audio Technica you can go about 200 feet without any break up and it is great whether you are running, pranking, interviewing, speaking close up, in a room, or almost any other situation. The thing I like about this microphone is the fact it will will automatically switch frequencies if it has any disturbance and it does it without loosing any audio recording. This means if there are RF signals or other things that could cause the digital signal to get disrupted is switches frequencies for you.
